AHA PALS Plus™: Airway Management Module
The PALS Plus course was introduced by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The course is designed for advanced pediatric healthcare providers seeking additional content beyond PALS.
The American Heart Association (AHA) Plus Airway Management Module discusses the features, diagnosis, and management of obstruction. The module covers advanced airway placement and ventilation.
Pediatric healthcare providers can face difficulties when managing a child’s airways due to the anatomical differences between children and adults. The pediatric airway is small and narrow which makes the intubation and ventilation more challenging. Children’s higher-positioned larynx makes airways more trickier.
After the completion of this module, pediatric healthcare providers will learn:
- Infection Control during AGPs
- Anatomical differences between pediatric and adult airways
- Specialized approach to pediatric airway emergencies
- Diagnose and manage airway obstruction & lung diseases
- Recognize the distinction between respiratory distress and failure and learn when to intervene
- Understand when to provide advanced airway support
This module is dedicated to personnel in various healthcare settings, including:
- Emergency response
- Emergency medicine
- Intensive care and
- Critical care units
- Paramedics and
- Other healthcare providers
